Under the Cherry Blossoms | Virginia Beach Family Photographer

Monday, May 20th, 2013

In all the years I’ve been here I had yet to do a session among the cherry blossoms at Red Wing Park. We had so much fun making little “R” squeal with the raining blossoms. And I adore her blonde curls. :)

A Beach Vacation | Virginia Beach Family Photographer

Wednesday, July 25th, 2012

They were here for just a short stay. I had such a wonderful time with them on them on the beach though. It was one of our crazy weather days where every forecast is calling for rain and then it clears at the last minute. We had the most amazing overcast light for their session.

{Friends} | Virginia Beach Children’s Photography

Monday, April 2nd, 2012

This vision started with a mirror. A friend’s mirror that I kindly asked her to trek through the mud with it. :) She brought along her great-grandmother’s umbrella and I squealed when I looked at this test frame…

And then we let the girls have fun in a field with gorgeous golden light.

Sweet Baby Girl and a Field of Light | Virginia Beach Children’s Photographer

Sunday, February 26th, 2012

I just realized that I have never shared this child portrait session with my gorgeous niece. You’ve likely seen a few of these pictures but I love stepping away from a session and returning to it with a fresh pair of eyes. Some of these I had yet to edit until now. The dress was handmade by my Mom. I have a few that she has made for me if anyone has a little girl and wants to use one for your session! I miss you baby girl!

The O Family | Virginia Beach Family Vacation Photographer

Saturday, August 20th, 2011

A dancer and a girl who loves to dress up. What more could a photographer ask for?! I met this vacationing family between the rainstorms at an inlet beach. I still can’t get over how beautiful they are together. I wanted to be sure to capture the girls as their momma remembers them… at this moment, at this age. I loved that the girls changed. E so she could dance on the beach and O so she could prance and curtsey, and dig in the sand.

{Inspired} Wall Gallery Decor | Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake Photographer

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

If you follow my facebook page, I’ve been searching high and low for an example of custom portrait wallpaper. I am just dying to have a client let me wallpaper an accent wall in a playroom with a simple black and white portrait. Well, I finally found one! (Still working on the client :) ) Laura Novak is a huge inspiration for me and when I saw what she had done in this room, I fell in love with her work even more.

{Inspired} Wall Gallery Decor | Transferring Photos onto Wood | Virginia Beach Photographer

Sometimes your portraits don’t have to be on a big scale to make a grand statement in your home. I love this foyer/entryway idea featured in Southern Living. When you have this many small pictures, tying them together with one cohesive theme will give your home character and depth. In this case they were all done in black and white. The last thing you want is your home to look like your college dorm room with pictures of friends pinned to the walls. :) I was blown away when I read that these prints were copied onto wooden plates! Yes, they aren’t even regular prints pinned to the walls! So, I had to find out more and found this video on how to transfer prints onto wood. (The 2nd half of the video is where you will be amazed.) Did you know that could be done?! I’m eager to try out this process for myself.

A Beach Vacation | Virginia Beach & Sandbridge Photographer

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

I met this vacationing family for an early morning session at Sandbridge beach. A horseshoe crab shell intrigued the little ones and I had such a fun time teaching little “A” how to run from the waves. Thank you to this wonderful family for allowing me to capture a portion of your stay. Here is a quick sneak peek for you while you enjoy the rest of your vacation!

{Inspired} Wall Gallery Decor | Virginia Beach Family and Child Photographer

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

I was so excited to come across this weeks featured inspired wall gallery. I have a similar wall in my entryway that I would love to do this too! Kate at Centsational Girl has a completely awesome DIY project that adds storage and a functional gallery ledge and wall to display your family portraits.

And to think she started with this all too familiar looking wall!

Thinking of taking on this project for yourself? You can find her detailed directions here!
