Twins in the Orchard | Virginia Beach Outdoor Newborn Photographer

Monday, September 3rd, 2012

An apple orchard made the perfect location for these newborn twin girls. Their daddy sadly is deployed and won’t meet them for a few more months. This concept was developed with the ladies over at the Hampton Roads Creative blog. The 8 of us had the challenge to interpret the word “Apple” into a concept shoot. I adore outdoor newborn photography and wanted to bring in the natural elements of the orchard for this shoot. You can read more about this concept and the other 7 girls over at the HRC blog! It’s pretty amazing to me how 8 photographers can come up with something completely different using the same idea. :)

Meet Baby S. You’ve seen his big brother and sister all over my blog as they are my boys beloved best friends. I’m so happy this little man is here. I’m getting my newborn fix with snuggles and newborn puppy grunts as often as like. I visited them in the hospital on his birth day and then we stumbled upon a magical little hidden hideaway at one of my favorite locations.

Our crazy Hampton Roads weather had better plans for this newborn session when the skies became black and started raining buckets shortly after we started, making it impossible to shoot natural light indoors. We ended up rescheduling and venturing outdoors for part 2 of this session and I’m so glad we did. I adore outdoor newborn sessions. Check out the nursery though. Dad handmade the tree bookshelf which I am absolutely in love with!

Belly and Baby | Virginia Beach Maternity and Newborn Photographer

This momma and her family is absolutely gorgeous. Big brother was the friendliest and happiest toddler I think I’ve ever worked with. Don’t be fooled by baby brother’s chubby cheeks though. This little preemie decided to surprise us and make an early entrance. :)

He was a little pop-eye during our time together. Always half asleep with one eye open on me.

Baby C was a dream baby to photograph. Not only was he the sleepiest, but (with the exception of a diaper malfunction) was accident free! Thank you to his beautiful family for allowing me to capture his first days. And if you haven’t seen them already, be sure to check out their maternity session back in January. She made a gorgeous preggo! /blog/?p=855

We found a quiet little park for this family and their newest little addition. G came dressed in her ruby red slippers and seemed to adore her baby sister.

She came early | Virginia Beach Newborn Photographer

Friday, May 27th, 2011

She decided to come early just so she could meet her daddy before he left. He would have already been long on his way by the time her due date rolled around. Something tells me this little girl is going to have him wrapped around her finger. :) Thank you both for inviting me into your home during those precious days left.

Bebe Firsts Nursery Decor | Virginia Beach Baby Photographer

Monday, May 9th, 2011

Remember my Bebe Firsts Ambassador Baby E?! I’m so excited to share what we have going on in his rockin’ nursery! Take a look! His momma did a fabulous job with the Rocker theme. When we met for her initial consult, we had ideas going back and forth and decided on this idea for the baby on guitar. Then we put together this silver metallic frame idea to fit in with the nursery decor and also the b&w guitar image we had in floating around in our minds. The hand painted metallic crib frame fits a gorgeous 18×36 fine art print which is mounted on 1/8″ masonite. It is truly a stunning heirloom piece that will act as an anchor piece in their home and room decor.

And just for my Bebe First clients, I am custom designing Birth Announcements! The first 25 are complimentary with your Bebe First sessions. Here’s the one we designed for Baby E.

Thank you to this special family for sharing the next year of E’s life with me! I cannot wait to capture his 1st year milestones and help you add life art to your home!

Sweet Baby Girl | Virginia Beach Newborn Photographer

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

I was so excited for this newborn session. Momma gave me free reign to work on my creative style for my newborn sessions. As I said in my last post, I’m taking my newborn photography to a more natural and organic style. Less props and less posing. I know the industry is moving more and more towards using props. Using baby as art. But I remind myself to use life as art, not baby. Life is the stolen moments, the laughs, the mistakes, the giggles, yawns, cries, and snuggles. Life is not in and of itself. It’s dynamic, spirited and emotional. I am always so grateful for the opportunity to grow myself through my art. Thank you for stopping by to take a peek and I hope to be bringing more newborn Life Art sessions to you soon!

And a flower for mom…
