C.S. Photography features the unique Home.Life.Art family sessions and Bébe Firsts sessions. What is Life Art? Well...Life Art is YOU! It's the relationship that is captured between family. A moment... a portrait created by me and turned into beautiful Life Art décor that makes you smile every time you walk by it and inspires your home to greet you.
My blog is filled with the inner workings of my photography passion. I'll be featuring sneak peeks, tutorial tidbits, Life Art Décor suggestions, product offerings, client gallery designs and inspiration.
A dancer and a girl who loves to dress up. What more could a photographer ask for?! I met this vacationing family between the rainstorms at an inlet beach. I still can’t get over how beautiful they are together. I wanted to be sure to capture the girls as their momma remembers them… at this moment, at this age. I loved that the girls changed. E so she could dance on the beach and O so she could prance and curtsey, and dig in the sand.
If you follow my facebook page, I’ve been searching high and low for an example of custom portrait wallpaper. I am just dying to have a client let me wallpaper an accent wall in a playroom with a simple black and white portrait. Well, I finally found one! (Still working on the client ) Laura Novak is a huge inspiration for me and when I saw what she had done in this room, I fell in love with her work even more.
Sometimes your portraits don’t have to be on a big scale to make a grand statement in your home. I love this foyer/entryway idea featured in Southern Living. When you have this many small pictures, tying them together with one cohesive theme will give your home character and depth. In this case they were all done in black and white. The last thing you want is your home to look like your college dorm room with pictures of friends pinned to the walls. I was blown away when I read that these prints were copied onto wooden plates! Yes, they aren’t even regular prints pinned to the walls! So, I had to find out more and found this video on how to transfer prints onto wood. (The 2nd half of the video is where you will be amazed.) Did you know that could be done?! I’m eager to try out this process for myself.
I met this vacationing family for an early morning session at Sandbridge beach. A horseshoe crab shell intrigued the little ones and I had such a fun time teaching little “A” how to run from the waves. Thank you to this wonderful family for allowing me to capture a portion of your stay. Here is a quick sneak peek for you while you enjoy the rest of your vacation!
I was so excited to come across this weeks featured inspired wall gallery. I have a similar wall in my entryway that I would love to do this too! Kate at Centsational Girl has a completely awesome DIY project that adds storage and a functional gallery ledge and wall to display your family portraits.
And to think she started with this all too familiar looking wall!
Thinking of taking on this project for yourself? You can find her detailed directions here!

As I dive deeper into creating custom and unique wall displays for clients from their life art family sessions with me, I’m always looking for inspiration. I thought I would start to feature some that I come across so the first in this {hopefully} weekly series is from Kasey Buick, blogger and inspirational decorator of her own home. If you have a chance, take a look at some of her rooms. They are stunning! I LOVE, LOVE her staircase gallery. Where do I even begin on why?! How about this. Clients always ask me what they should wear in a session. I never suggest they match. The short answer is choose a color palette that you love, has complimentary colors and will also compliment the room which you will hang your wall art. This wall gallery does all that for me. She chose to stay in a neutral palette but mixed complimentary colors with various sizes, shapes, frame within frame patterns, letters, textures, etc. For me it’s not overdone, but adds so much character than your standard all matching white frame display that she could have gone with. Do you have a staircase gallery you are proud of? I would love to see it!
I had an amazing time shooting this family a few weeks back at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. This family truly rejuvenated me and they had a genuine love that was so apparent in our time together. I had a hard time narrowing down which ones I wanted to share. Here are just a few of my favorites. Thank you to the C Family for sharing your evening with me!
She decided to come early just so she could meet her daddy before he left. He would have already been long on his way by the time her due date rolled around. Something tells me this little girl is going to have him wrapped around her finger. Thank you both for inviting me into your home during those precious days left.
I love photographing kids, and families. And I love it even more when there is no plan. No expectation for formal portraits. He’s two. And two year olds don’t sit. They barely give mom and dad a glance. They are on the run, testing how far…when will they stop me. 2 year old shoots are a game of follow the leader and I’m sure you can guess who the leader is! This two year was curious. You grabbed his attention when you threw him up in the air, when you chased him, when you scooped him up, held him by his ankles and threatened to tickle. But what I loved most about him I’m sure you can guess, was his mess of curls. They started off loose, a little bit wild. And then a rainstorm came while we waited indoors and the humidity curled them into the most gorgeous locks. I’m always curious to see if they will ever cut them. But then I think I’d be just a little bit disappointed. Happy Birthday little man!
